Uniting India Under the “Har Ghar Tiranga”

With just a mere one day remaining before India’s much-awaited Independence Day festivities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the populace to adorn their social media profile pictures with the tricolor emblem, aligning with the enthusiastic spirit of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement.

India stands on the cusp of commemorating a monumental 75 years of independence, marked by the exuberant ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’.

In a spirited bid to endorse this initiative, PM Modi himself has replaced his social media display picture with the revered national flag.

The esteemed leader, on the preceding Friday, rallied citizens to join hands in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative spanning from August 13 to 15. In a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter), Modi articulated, “In consonance with the ethos of the #HarGharTiranga campaign, let us modify our social media display pictures and contribute our backing to this distinctive endeavor, thus further strengthening the bond between our cherished nation and its citizens.”

Additionally, he entreated individuals to share their snapshots adorned with the tricolor on www.harghartiranga.com.

Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, took an affirmative step on Sunday by inaugurating the “Har Ghar Tiranga” movement through the symbolic hoisting of the national flag on the premises of the Gorakhnath Temple.

With a fervent plea, the chief minister beckoned the denizens of the state to wholeheartedly partake in the festivities of Independence Day. While on a three-day sojourn to Gorakhpur, Adityanath also transformed his social media profile picture to proudly showcase the tricolor across all his digital platforms.

Concomitant with the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ endeavor, solemn processions are slated for ‘Partition Day’ (August 14) across all districts of the state. These processions aim to invoke remembrance of the anguish endured during India’s partition and to pay homage to the victims of the consequent violence, as per an official communiqué.

Symbolic earthen lamps will be illuminated in a poignant tribute to the sacrifices of soldiers as part of the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” program, the statement added. The districts are geared to pay homage to the kin of freedom fighters, military personnel, central police personnel, and police department members. Moreover, the festivities will encompass “Kavi Sammelan” (poetry sessions) and “Mushairas” (poetic gatherings), as detailed in the statement.

Following the chief minister’s directive, elementary and secondary schools in the state remained open on Sunday to engage in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ initiatives, as outlined in the statement.
